Navigating Copilot, Azure and the Next Generation of Microsoft Contracts

Hosted by UCB, this 3rd and final edition of Raven's Nest on Microsoft brought together a select group of IT leaders, procurement executives, sourcing specialists and vendor management professionals to discuss one of the most pressing questions facing organizations today: how do you play your Microsoft cards right in a world increasingly driven by AI, consumption-based pricing and changing commercial models?

The event welcomed Global IT Directors, Heads of Infrastructure, Procurement Directors, Vendor Managers and Technology Sourcing leaders from a diverse range of organizations. Despite differences in company size, Microsoft spend and contract structures, participants quickly discovered that many organizations are struggling with remarkably similar challenges.

One of the strongest themes throughout the afternoon was the growing concern around usage-based and token-based pricing. While AI technologies offer significant opportunities, many organizations are struggling to forecast future consumption, create reliable budgets and establish transparency around token and credit usage. Several participants noted that the move towards consumption-driven licensing introduces a level of uncertainty that many organizations are not yet equipped to manage effectively.

The conversation also turned towards Microsoft 365 E7. While Microsoft continues to position E7 as the future of the workplace platform, participants broadly agreed that organizations should carefully evaluate actual requirements and business value before making significant long-term commitments.

Another recurring topic was Azure commitment management. Many organizations acknowledged that despite increasing FinOps maturity, determining the right commitment levels remains difficult. As a result, significant optimization opportunities are often left untapped.

To address this challenge, White Raven IT introduced its new partnership with ProsperOps, a market leader in automated cloud commitment management and cloud savings optimization. The discussion demonstrated strong interest in approaches that continuously optimize commitments without requiring organizations to sacrifice flexibility or dedicate additional internal resources.

These discussions closely align with White Raven IT's expertise in Microsoft license negotiations, where organizations seek support in navigating increasingly complex Microsoft commercial models.

The Azure-related discussions also highlighted the growing importance of continuous cloud cost optimizations, particularly as organizations seek to reduce cloud waste, improve governance and increase predictability around future spending. Through our partnership with ProsperOps, White Raven IT can now additionally support organizations with automated Azure commitment optimization and cloud cost savings initiatives.
